How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Song

Let's face it; choosing the ideal wedding song should really be a moment you both share because more often than not, the two of you will have your preferred song that just seems to capture the way you feel about each other. As you know, musicians are for ever creating songs which are perfect for couples and which can be used at weddings irrespective of what your age is.

While more traditional music such as the Wedding March may in fact be a regular in virtually all weddings, the wedding song itself should be one which can reflect the feelings and emotions of both of you. With such a vast number of songs to choose from, you will soon find that your list ends up becoming quite long when you are trying to decide which song to choose. Ideally, you'll both need to sit down and narrow the list down to just a few songs which both of you are passionate about.

It doesn't really matter who chooses the song just as long as you both agree upon it. Unlike the groom's cake which is seldom compared to the wedding cake, the song should be a couple minded tune. If you are creative enough to write your own song and have it recorded you can do that as well, but try not to put anymore stress on yourselves than necessary.

Considering that the two of you will be husband and wife, the song of your first dance should by all accounts be a memorable one, and one which is ideal for a slow dance. The bottom line is; that first song is played, it should be nothing short of an exceptional moment for you both.

If you decide to have a band play your song while you dance make sure they know ahead of time. There are plenty of songs to choose from, they might be older classics that everybody knows and even now the newer generation is picking wedding songs that are geared towards love. Don't be afraid that people won't like your song, it's your day.

You can choose from soul classics or pop rock hits. Bands such as Aerosmith, Journey, Bon Jovi and REO Speedwagon are always top favorites. Singers like Lionel Richie, Percy Sledge, Luther Vandross and Stevie Wonder add a soulful element to a wedding song. To show your mate how much you love them you can always get your wedding song as their ring tone.

Of course, as is to be expected, the younger generation for the most part often decides to use songs from the newer generation artists such as Usher, Oasis, Vanessa Carlton and Kelly Clarkson. The main thing to remember is, choosing the ideal song for your wedding should not only be fun, but it should also reflect on your life together. As such, one shouldn't feel obligated to choose one of the traditional songs.

On the other hand, if you really want to pile on the sappiness, then you can always opt for a song by The Carpenters or Air Supply for example. Then again, if you intend avoiding tradition and you would both like to spice things up a little, then you could of course choose a song by Guns N Roses, Whitesnake, or Billy Idol. The bottom line is; you need to make sure that your wedding song is they great start to your new life.
